Welcome back to Living on Purpose in Christ, the podcast where we dive into living a life that glorifies God in every aspect. Hi, I'm your host, Paula, and today we're focusing on self-care routines that honor our Creator, God. Inspired by 1 Corinthians 6, verse 19-20, we'll explore how caring for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit can deepen our faith and connection with God. So grab a warm cup of tea, find a cozy spot and let's get started.
Paula Behrens:First, let's dive into what it truly means to view our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul reminds us that we are not our own. We've been bought with a price. This profound truth tells us to care for ourselves as an act of worship. When we think about a temple, we think of a place that is sacred, cherished and honored. How would our daily lives change if we treated ourselves with that same reverence?
Paula Behrens:As we strive to honor God through self-care, o ne powerful tool in our spiritual and wellness toolbox is essential oils. Young Living Essential Oils can be a beautiful addition to your routines, helping create an atmosphere of peace and grounding. For instance, consider diffusing lavender during prayer or meditation to help center your heart and mind. Or use frankincense on your skin for an uplifting experience that connects you with God's creation. Remember, it's about making small, intentional choices that align with the values we hold as followers of Christ. Young Living's commitment to pure, high-quality oils means that when you're using them, you're also honoring His creation God's creation by choosing products that reflect His perfect design.
Paula Behrens:Now let's talk about a few steps you can take to integrate self-care into your daily life in a way that remains Christ-centered. First, start your day with a devotion and prayer. Use essential oils like peppermint to invigorate your senses and set intentions for a God-focused day. Then consider taking a walk in nature reminding yourself of his creation. Inhale deeply with your favorite citrus oil applied to your wrists and reflect on his blessings. Three, dedicate time each week to rest, which is essential for our spiritual and physical rejuvenation. Use calming oils like Peace and Calming to create a sanctuary of restfulness at home. Four, as you journal or reflect on scripture, diffuse oils that help you focus and feel grounded, like cedarwood or sandalwood.
Paula Behrens:Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6, verse 19 through 20.
Paula Behrens:As women walking in faith, the realization that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit is both empowering and humbling. The Apostle Paul's words remind us that our physical selves are sacred and set apart for God's purpose. This truth speaks to our intrinsic worth and the incredible love God has for each of us, purchased through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In a world that often measures value by appearance or success, pause to reflect on how God views you, not as the world does, but through the lens of his grace and purpose. Your worth is firmly rooted in who you are in Christ, not in what you do or how you look. Carrying this understanding in our hearts calls us to honor God with our bodies.
Paula Behrens:Consider the ways you can honor God through your daily actions. It could be through nurturing your health, embracing rest or offering kindness and love to those around you. When we strive to live in a way that honors God, we allow his light to shine through us, impacting our families, communities and beyond. What are some ways you may have taken your body's role as a temple of the Holy Spirit for granted, and how can you realign yourself to honor God with your body?
Paula Behrens:My challenge to you today is to make a personal commitment to make choices that honor your temple physically, spiritually and emotionally. This could mean setting aside time for prayer, nourishing your body with wholesome food or taking steps toward emotional health, and then consider sharing your journey with a friend and invite them to join you in this commitment. Together, you can encourage each other in faith and accountability. Let us pray.
Paula Behrens:Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the profound love you have for us, which is so beautifully expressed in the truth that we are temples of your Holy Spirit. Help us to live in a way that honors you, making choices that reflect your love and grace. Guide us as we seek to honor you with our bodies and shine your light for others. In Jesus' name, we ask these things Amen.
Paula Behrens:Remember, dear sister in Christ, you are a cherished temple of the Holy Spirit. Let that truth guide and inspire your path today and always. As we wrap up, remember self-care should be a community effort. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage you on this journey. Share your routines, swap oil blends and pray for each other.
